Legends of Exidia is a hack-and-slash RPG game set in a fantasy world. You begin in a small village, but embark on your quest shortly. The entire game is very fast paced--probably too fast paced; the entire game will take you just a few hours. Unfortunately, the game is also quite merciless with plenty of ways for you to die very easily, with this taking up a good amount of your actual playtime.
The main problem with Legends of Exidia is that it feels very unrefined and unfinished. It's missing several features that any good game should have. The game has two methods of attacking: melee and magic. As you defeat monsters, gain experience points, and level up, you can earn new combo strikes or stronger magic spells. The only problem is that once you earn a new one, you can't use the old one. One major flaw in this is that every time you level up, you will earn more mana. Every time you get a stronger spell, it requires a lot more mana. This way, you're pretty much using the same percentage of your mana every time. The story is pretty much a joke. There's a king who is supposed to help you, but turns out to be evil, but you save him and he thanks you, but then later he says he actually was evil and resurrects a dragon to kill you.
Overall, the game would be much better if Gameloft just put more time into it. The graphics are one of the few good things about the game, and the sounds are pretty good, too. Combat would be good if it weren't incredibly repetitive. Generally when you want yo fight an enemy, you'll notice yourself doing the same thing every time: trying to corner it so that it can't escape while you mash "A" and wait for it to die. The end of the game really surprised me. When I beat the final boss and saw the credits I thought to myself just how short that was. When I went to the file selection and tried to play my file again to see if I had missed anything, I was unable to. Your game data gets deleted as soon as you beat the game. Just one more terrible feature in a mediocre game. I do not recommend this game.
